A few months ago I journaled an encounter I had with Abba and what He was saying to me in regards to the next few months of my time here in Lancaster. Tonight I believe Jesus is asking me to share with you this encounter.
Ezekiel 37: 1-3
“The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
In a vision, a handful of my close friends and I appeared in a valley of dry bones as in Ezekiel 37.
We were all crouching, holding our heads and ears as a fierce wind whipped through this valley. The wind gradually slowed enough for us to lift our heads and look inquisitively to one another all asking the same question: what is this place? I remember feeling very confused because we had been so sure that God was taking us elsewhere, not this empty, dry valley with no life or movement.
Without muttering a word, simultaneously we stood to our feet, indicating our change in perspective. Looking out among the rocks and remnants of what once was and then gazing down to our feet, we awkwardly shifted our weight upon the dead historical bones. Abba Father revealed to us just how His heart cries to see these brittle, broken, bare bones live again.
v9 “Then he said to me, “prophesy to the breath; prophesy son of man, and say to it, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.'”
» He said to me, Molly, if they don’t have My breath they’re just flesh…
Will you catch my breath and breathe upon all that I’ve called to live? «
v10 “So I prophesied as he commanded me and breath entered them; they came to life and stood on their feet — a vast army.”
Ezekiel 36:26 reads, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
For many, this past season has been a place of daily surrender and dying to self – almost to the point of exhaustion and frustration. I believe the Lord has been gently challenging His sons and daughters to take a second look at where He’s planted you… Abba is aware of what He is asking you – to confront all that you’ve run from. Yet as we die to our will and our ways, I believe we will see Jesus move in our lives [IN OUR HOMETOWNS] on unprecedented levels.
It has been painful and confusing at times, but my friends, be encouraged! For the same fire you’ve allowed Him to purify your heart with, is the very same fire He is qualifying you to carry and release wherever you go.
For those who feel like they have nothing left to surrender and have been battling weariness I hear Jesus saying, “the deeper the fire goes the greater the capacity to carry My glory.”
In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trails. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. [NIV]
…even though lately you’ve had to put up with the grief of many trials. But these only reveal the sterling core [proven character] of your faith, which is far more valuable than gold that perishes, for even gold is refined by fire. Your authentic faith will result in even more praise, glory and honor when Jesus the Anointed One is revealed. [TPT]
1 Peter 1:6-7
This purity of heart will change nations. The righteousness of Jesus will eradicate the darkness of sin. He is raising up His bride to catch His resurrection life and breath it into the ones who have lost hope!
I challenge you to grow roots where He has planted you. No matter the duration of time you may or may not be there. He is strategic and intentional. Don’t miss what He wants to do in you NOW because this very season might be exactly what you need to get to where you WANT to go.
Will YOU catch His breath?
